Online tickets start from $99 and are available at www.flypelican.com.au

A mix of passengers boarded FlyPelican’s first flight out of Mudgee in near perfect conditions.

Mudgee woman, Sue Kearins booked the inaugural flight to Sydney for a medical appointment.

“It’s wonderful to have the service back and I’m sure people will use it frequently,” Mrs Kearins said.

Without the service, she would have had to drive four hours to her destination.

“The cost of this [service] against travelling by car, paying accommodation and parking is much more cost effective,” husband Mike Kearins said.

“I’m sure the local people, once they realise we have a service again will use it regularly.”

Also on board the flight was 15-year-old Newtown High School of Performing Arts student Callum Bain.

Callum, who is learning to fly, made the return trip from Sydney to Mudgee all before school.

He was lucky enough to sit alongside FlyPelican CEO Paul Graham who was on-board the flight.

Mid-Western Regional Council mayor, Des Kennedy, and general manager, Brad Cam welcomed Mr Graham and the first passengers to touch down yesterday.

“We hope that the people of Mudgee support the airline. It can only be successful if people use it,” Mr Cam said.

FlyPelican flies out of Mudgee at 8.40am and 6.25pm, Monday to Friday, with an additional flight at 1.30pm on Sunday.

Flights from Sydney to Mudgee will depart at 6.55am and 5.10pm, Monday to Friday and 12.20pm on Sunday.
