The dust has barely settled from another successful Mudgee Show but organisers are already turning their attention to the 2019 edition.
Thousands flocked through the gates on Friday and Saturday to watch events such as the Rodeo, fireworks and the new Rooftop Express, as well as enjoying old favourites such as sideshow alley and the rides.
Mudgee Show senior vice president Bill Robinson said the committee were delighted with the attendance and the weather.
“We got together and talked yesterday and everybody was really happy with the results. It was a bumper year,” he said.
“The rodeo went very well, sideshow alley was a hit and the animal nursery was packed wall-to-wall with people.”
Organisers were due to meet again on Wednesday night for a full debrief but discussions will ultimately turn to plans for how to make next year’s show even better.
“Most of us say ‘never again’ but we always come back,” Mr Robinson joked.
“When it comes to booking some of the acts and events, we start 12 months out because that’s what it takes to get the best.
“It’s important to get new things every year because it gives the crowds something else to see and experience.”
This year’s big new event was Rooftop Express, a fun and exciting show involving horses, cattle and stockmen, all on top of a 40-foot long trailer.
The performance proved hit with spectators of all ages.
“We were really excited to get Rooftop Express here and it was very well received. It’s great to get big, new shows like that coming here,” Mr Robinson said.
The traditional displays in the pavilion also proved popular, with judges very impressed with the calibre of entries.
“The poultry section, the craft work, all of those sections were very good and that is because the community gets involved,” he said.
“The schools take part in the exhibitions and we get a fantastic result.”
Mr Robinson said the committee would start their search now to get some of the hottest rides and events to make next year even bigger.
