The sun’s out, it’s not too hot, and not too cold.
With this in mind we reckon it’s pretty much a perfect weekend to kick back and enjoy everything our wonderful region has to offer.
And why wouldn’t you?
With Glen Willow once again attracting high profile NRL teams and the Gooree Cup being run across the road at the Mudgee Race Course, isn’t it the perfect weekend to get out and about?
In February the Charity Shield drew record crowds to the stadium, many from out of town who made a weekend of it by staying in the Mudgee region.
A great bonus for our community.
Even more recently we’ve had another boom for the region when Mudgee was named as the top regional foodie location in Australia thanks to Australian Traveller.
It’s a huge recognition for such major industries in our town but of course, food and wine aren’t the only things our region offers a visitor or two.
When talking to Mudgee Tourism, we were told on average people are spending three days in the region, and while three days might not seem like a whole lot, it meas more and more people are coming for long weekends, and they go home and tell their friends and family, who then come and visit as well.
Mudgee’s got so much to offer, and this weekend, with so many people expected to be in town, we’re excited to see the region’s best on show.
A late breakfast, a ride around town, a wander through the sculpture walk, a day trip to one of the smaller towns a short drive out of town. There’s just so many things to do!
And, just quickly, looking at the weather, because we know it plays a big part in making weekend plans.
Cooler temperatures overnight on Saturday and Sunday are expected to bring on warmer days with a top of 18 on Saturday and 17 on Sunday.
So, remember to grab a jacket, and a beanie before you head out.
Fine weather, food and wine, a day at the races, followed by an NRL game, right in our own backyard. Why wouldn’t you want to invite a friend or two along this weekend?
Our journalists will be around this weekend, and we’re looking forward to catching up with a few people in town, so say hi if you see us snapping away at the races or the NRL game.
