The Mudgee Region has a lot to celebrate, bringing home Australia’s Top Tourism Town Award 2021.

Mudgee Region Tourism has been encouraging visitors to feel the love in the region’s authentic country town and villages for years, so it was no surprise the location claimed the state title earlier this year and moved on to compete for the Australia’s Top Tourism Town Award 2021.

Against other state finalists, including Ballarat, VIC, Busselton, WA, Katherine, NT, Moonta, SA, New Norfolk, TAS and Noosa, QLD, the Mudgee region was victorious, taking out the title as the number one tourism town in the nation with a population over 5,000.

“We’ve done it again. This incredible community we all get to enjoy and call home has been named Australia’s Top Tourism Town for the year, and without bias – of course, I think judges got it right,” Chairperson of Mudgee Region Tourism Board, Jess Chrcek said.

“The one thing we can all agree on is that the past 24 months have been incredibly challenging, overwhelming, and unexpected. The most reassurance I have had has come from the community we live in – the towns and villages that make up a destination that the whole country is curious about and excited to experience.

“The partners of Mudgee Region Tourism and the operators of the many businesses and experiences in our region who have worked so hard to make our offering what it is, they should all be feeling the love and incredibly proud today – this award is for them.

“Lastly, I would like to thank the team at Mudgee Region Tourism, who have navigated our destination, leading us to become Australia’s Top Tourism Town. Without their incredible knowledge of the industry, dedication, passion for what we have on offer and skill to get the word out there, none of this would be possible.

“Today is a wonderful day and I hope the entire region celebrates this win, and the many more wins to come.”

The awards celebrate the spirit of tourism and the visitor economy in Australia and highlight not only the incredible attractions and experiences on offer, but the collaboration within these community to promote and encourage visitation.
