MRT’s campaign Let’s Skip Town Together was judged to be a major success and finished just behind A Western Australian campaign for the Pilbara and marketing for the ACT’s Pie Time event.

A small team from Mudgee made the trip to Perth to attend the ceremony at Optus Stadium and receive the award, including MRT CEO Cara George.

“We were thrilled to take bronze, it’s a great result for out region, which is quite small compared to some of the regions and campaigns we were up against,” Ms George said.

“The Let’s Skip Town campaign has been very successful and we are just about to start stage four of that campaign.

“I want to thank the whole region for its involvement. I think the collaborative nature of the region is very evident in the campaign.”

Member for the Dubbo electorate Troy Grant congratulated MRT on their gong.

Mr Grant said receiving the national accolade was deserving recognition of the Mudgee region’s outstanding tourism offerings.

“Congratulations to Mudgee Region Tourism and our entire region for delivering exceptional visitor experiences and tourism products year after year,” Mr Grant said.

“Tourism is an important industry for the Mudgee region and this destination marketing award is recognition of the incredible work and expertise of those in our community, and also raises the profile of the region as a whole.

“Our beautiful region has so much to offer domestic and international visitors and we look forward to welcoming even more travellers to this beautiful part of the state as a result of this fantastic achievement.”

Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the awards recognised those who whop had led the way as NSW retained its position as the most visited state in Australia.

“Last year, our tourism industry generated $28.5 billion in international and domestic overnight visitor expenditure, and attracted 35.1 million overnight visitors, who stayed 194.5 million nights in NSW. Every tourism operator in NSW has played an integral role in achieving this result for our state.”
